Community gets a running start in 2015

Plano locals can start the New Year off on the right foot, with The Commitment Day Festival and 5K fun run and walk encouraging people to begin a healthier life.

The nationwide event takes place in more than 50 locations throughout the United States. With big events like this, printing companies are often asked to make Flyers and other promotional materials to pass out in the local community.

After the race, individuals can take part in one of the many activities at the four-day Commitment Day Festival. Some of the highlights include an indoor family pool bash, various workout workshops, and a healthy happy hour.

5K registration costs $24 for individuals aged 13 and over. Kids under 13 are free with a registered adult. A service fee may be applied to those who sign up online.

The Life Time Foundation is the charity partner for the event. The charitable organization is committed to helping people be healthy. The foundation’s most recent focus is on child nutrition. All of the organization’s funds go to help its mission.

Volunteers are needed for the event to help with registration, set-up, and other responsibilities. As a thank you, these individuals will receive perks like free food.

The fun starts on January 1 at 10:00 am. The race begins and ends at Life Time Fitness, located on 7100 Preston Road. The festival takes place from January 1 through 4.
