Plano event to help young drivers hit the road safely

Giving learner drivers the tools they need to be safe whenever they take to the road can give both them and their parents peace of mind, and this is being offered as part of an upcoming Plano educational event.

The Reality Education for Drivers (RED) program is intended to give both new drivers and their parents or guardians an introduction to safe driving techniques and habits. The learning will take place through a series of presentations, discussions, and other activities, and the group will also take a special “field trip” to a local medical facility.

The students in the class will visit Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano to get a behind the scenes look at its trauma center so that they can see firsthand what can happen when someone chooses to use their vehicle in an unsafe manner. There will also be a special component for the parents and guardians so that they can support their son or daughter when they make safe driving decisions.

When the workshop is over, the participants will walk away with both knowledge and a certificate of completion. The parents will also receive a bag of Promotional Products and other tools that they can utilize in helping their own young driver even after the event is over.

The RED program will be offered on August 3, at 6200 West Parker Road. While participation is free, those who plan on taking part are asked to RSVP ahead of time.
