Plano class to create new crop of honey judges

The sweetest of offers has been presented to Plano residents, where those who take part may discover a new pastime or even a profession.

A day in June will see a group of enthusiasts take the first step towards becoming a certified Honey Judge. According to the event listing, it may be well suited to those who are detail oriented.

The event, for which tickets are available now, will take place in person, and all levels of beekeeping experience may benefit. The science of judging honey will be discussed, as will food safety, proper harvesting, processing, and also handling. The logistics and administration of taking part in honey shows will be on the agenda, and a discussion of the judging rules, techniques, ethics, and etiquette will round out the day.

A class or other learning opportunity gives the public an opportunity to discover a new hobby that they may really enjoy. Educational materials, including an assortment of styles of bound texts, can be prepared by a local printing services company.

This introduction to the art and science of honey judging will be offered to enthusiasts on Friday, June 14, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. The learning will take place at 2512 Summit Avenue in Plano. Tickets are $102.84, and a lunch add-on is available for $16.24.
