Local class may help save a life

Later this month, a Plano area class will teach members of the public what to do when it comes to dealing with dangerous bleeding.

A Stop the Bleed training class, which is part of a larger nationwide initiative, will help those who are interested learn what to do to stop blood loss until professional help arrives. This is a particularly valuable skill to have because uncontrolled bleeding is one of the top causes of mortality after a traumatic incident.

The Allen Fire Department Administration’s training room will be the venue for the workshop, and it will equip the attendees with skills and knowledge they can use to stop bleeding whether or not they have access to a first aid kit. All ages may take part, and once they have completed their training, every participant will receive a certificate.

This learning opportunity is available free of charge, but those who register and then find they cannot make it have been asked to cancel their reservation in advance so their spot can be reallocated. Learning materials for a class like this may be prepared by area Print shops.

This chance to spend a summer evening learning how to save a life will be welcoming learners on Tuesday, August 15. It will start at 7:00 pm. Those interested can sign up via AllEvents.in.
