One of the components of the Cub Scouts program is its Pinewood Derby, which sees kids craft their very own model cars and race them. Boys and girls from Plano who participate in the program are invited to climb aboard “Big Sally” so they can customize their very own championship roadster.
Those who take part in the Pinewood Derby can bring their kit to the bus, and here, they will find all the materials, tools, paints and other items needed to personalize their vehicle. Families can book a three-hour block of time, and each session will begin with a shop safety talk for both the parent and child.
The bus has been outfitted with drill presses, sanders, weights, scales saws, and patterns that can be used to design and build a Pinewood racer, and anyone who would like to buy some decals to further customize their car will be able to do so. A few spare kits will be available for purchase, and it was noted that each participant must take part in a safety briefing before they will be allowed to participate.
Providing kids with this sort of opportunity to craft a project using their own two hands can give them self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment. Stationery printers can supply waivers and other Forms that can be helpful in taking care of the business side of the event.
Big Sally is scheduled to roll in to the parking lot of the Dark Hour Haunted House on January 18. Blocks of time in the shop are available for booking now.
