CORE Store to provide free classroom supplies in Plano

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors and volunteers, teachers and other educators in the Plano Independent School District will now have a new source for classroom resources.

The CORE (Classroom Resource for Education) Store has been organized to provide materials for teachers, free of charge. According to the Plano ISD, this will help to ensure that all students, no matter what their financial circumstances, will have the same resources they need to succeed.

The store has been set up in a donated space on 16th Street, which was provided courtesy of Medical centers of Plano. It is stocked with an assortment of supplies contributed through local businesses and organizations, and will be run by volunteers throughout the year. A company that provides customized business Forms will be able to supply them to initiatives such as this.

Chris Bragg, who is the president of the Education Foundation, noted that there is a great need in the community for this type of facility. He went on to say that, in a recent survey of the district’s teachers, 82% of those who responded reported that they spend $100 or more of their own money each year on supplies for students in need, and 15% of respondents spend $500 or more.

Anyone who would like to find out more about the CORE Store is invited to visit the Plano ISD’s website for further details.
