What's Happening in McAllen, TX…

Youth acting seminar offers to elevate skills

Parents of McAllen youth looking for an opportunity to explore acting and learn new skills are in luck, as an acting workshop and seminar are in the works nearby.

The Youth Acting Workshop at Pharr Community Theater is set to open registration for youth between 12 and 17 who want to learn the necessary acting skills or build upon existing skills. The workshop will help each enrollee find their voice and begin building confidence in their acting skills.

Students will choose a monologue from a scene to perform, receiving constructive feedback from Screen Actor Guild actor and performer Pedro Garcia. Garcia will provide instruction on elevating acting skills to secure more roles in middle school and high school productions. Brochure printing is a fantastic way to share the skills and information related to workshops like this.

The class is limited to 25 participants, and interested parties are encouraged to make reservations while spots remain. Garcia has experience acting in productions like Breaking Bad, Fast and Furious Five, and Queen of the South. He has also been the acting Artistic Director of the Pharr Community Theater.

The workshop will be held at the Pharr Community Theater in Pharr on Saturday, March 1st. The learning session will begin at 2:00 PM and end at 5:00 PM. Registration costs $25 online or $30 at the door.
