The McAllen area is getting ready for an event that will see some of the state’s top BBQ chefs go head to head in a culinary competition.
The Texas Cook’Em BBQ contest will be taking place this year at the Ebony Hills Golf Course, and the public is welcome to stop by and watch the potential culinary champs at work. There will be an assortment of categories in the competition, with other fun on the agenda as well.
The cooks will be showing off their skills at preparing barbecued ribs, chicken, rib-eye steak, and pork brisket. They will all be vying for the one of the highest purses in the state, set at $25,000. The winners will also receive bagging rights. Along with this, the activity will include a custom truck, car, and hot rod show and shine, which is scheduled for its second day.
