Whether someone is interested in a career in botany or they just want to be a better home horticulturist, knowing how to properly ID plants can be a useful skill, and a McAllen area workshop can help point the way.
The learners in the Common Plants and Families ID workshop will be walked through the process of identifying some of the more common plants they may encounter. It will be botany focused, with an emphasis placed on native species found in the area.
The session will introduce its registrants to simple ways to determine what species a plant is and what family it fits into. The learning will be hands-on, and the group will work both indoors and outside at the venue. A guided tour of Quinta Mazatlan’s plants is on the agenda so everyone can get some in the field experience, and tickets for the two-hour-long workshop are $5 each.
