What's Happening in McAllen, TX…

McAllen symposium to explore organ donation from a professional perspective

Organ donation can save many lives, and those who work in the field have been invited to participate in a daylong event in McAllen that will equip them with information and other resources that can help them in their work.

The Best Practice in organ and Tissue Donation workshop, which has been organized by the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance, will explore the regulations, policies and other considerations that surround the process of organ donation. It will include presentations from a variety of experts in the field, and also a planned discussion with input from both the families of donors and also those who have been the recipient of an organ.

The class will begin at 8:00 am, and both lunch and breakfast will be served. There is no fee being charged to participate in the day of learning, but anyone who would like to take part has been asked to register ahead of time, as this will assist in planning the event.

The daylong symposium will be held in the Renaissance Transplant Institute building, which is located at 1100 E. Dove Street in McAllen. Presentation folders to distribute during an occasion such as this can be sourced from local print shops.

This opportunity for those who work in the field of organ and tissue donation to add to their knowledge base will be held on August 15. The sign-in table for the day will be open at 8:00 am.
