McAllen on the move with August trek

An event that can help to keep McAllen a great place to live, work, and play will be hitting the streets of the community this August. It will be an all-ages activity, and there will be options for both kids and adults alike to get involved.

Runners and cyclists alike may find that the 2019 Viva McAllen Streets is just the challenge they have been looking for. It will offer 5k and 10k runs, as well as 40 and 60 mile cycling routes. The route the cyclists will follow will wind through Mission, Palmview, La Joya, and Penitas as well as McAllen, and the day is set to begin at 7:00 am.

While the event will be a fundraising occasion, it will also help to educate local kids about fitness and bike safety. They can take part in the Kids Run, while those who participate in the bike rodeo will find out how they can be safe while they ride. The organizers of an activity like this can present each of the children who attend the function with a certificate that indicates they have taken part, and these can be supplied by area stationery printers.

This community celebration, which will raise funds for McAllen Crime Stoppers, has been planned for August 3. It will be staged at the McAllen Convention Center, and will have a theme of ‘Back the Blue’.
