McAllen medical professionals invited to brush up on organ donation

Medical professionals from McAllen who want to find out more about how the process of organ donation works can do so during a workshop set to be hosted by the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance.

Those who work in the healthcare field and who may be involved in organ donation are encouraged to be part of this learning experience. It will give them information about how the process works so they can approach the task in a way that is sensitive to the families of the donor.

The class will discuss the policies and regulations that govern organ donation, and they will also talk about the religious and cultural concerns they may encounter. Brain death, care for the donor, and many other topics are on the agenda, and there will also be remarks from a panel of transplant recipients and donor families.

Both breakfast and lunch are included in the registration fee for the learning session, and the class is scheduled to start at 8:00 am. Training manuals and other materials that can help the students in this sort of function to learn even more can be obtained from a company that prints Letterheads and other customized documents.

Rio Grande Regional Hospital will be offering this introductory class/refresher on May 2. The day will wrap up at 4:30 pm.
