McAllen event will share the joys of native plant gardening
Native plant gardening offers many advantages over using introduced species, and a McAllen event will showcase how residents can add local varieties to their own home landscape.
Quinta Mazatlan will be hosting a tour of its native gardens, and a horticultural expert will be on hand to share information, provide tips and answer any questions from the visitors. There will be lots of native plants to view that are hardy and grow in the local area, and those who join in the activity will be able to be inspired and perhaps even give them a try on their own property.
Along with the native gardens, the public will also have an opportunity to learn more about the “Lawn Gone” initiative and see it in action. They will have a chance to learn about how it needs less water, provides shelter, food and nesting sites for birds and other wildlife. The tour of both the native plant areas and Lawn Gone program are included in the admission price to the venue. Brochures that provide more details about this type of program can be sourced from a local printer.
This event which will showcase how native plant gardening can benefit people, wildlife and the planet alike has been planned for December 27th, starting at 10:00 am. Anyone who wants to find out more can do so by visiting the Quinta Mazatlan website.
