McAllen asked to have a heart

McAllen veterans will be joined by the general public in a fundraiser that will celebrate the community’s huge heart and caring spirit.

The Valley’s Heart Heroes will be the guests of honor for a fundraising run that will follow a course of 5k. It will both commemorate American Heart Month and encourage people to adopt a healthier lifestyle, and it is dedicated to veterans and their own battles with heart disease.

The activity is scheduled for the early morning while the air is still cool, and the staging area will be set up in the main parking lot at South Texas Health System Heart located at 1900 S. “D” Street. All ages are welcome, and those who sign up early will receive swag such as a T-shirt printed with a special graphic design, and well as a race bib and finisher’s medal. As these will only be supplied for as long as they last, guests are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.

A banner printing company can prepare materials to display at both the start and finish line of a non-competitive event like this, as well as signage to post along the route it will follow.

South Texas Health System Heart will be hosting this fundraising morning on Saturday, February 25. Early registration will close on Friday, February 3.
