McAllen residents who care about the natural world will soon be treated to a week of discoveries at a local area venue.
The Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and World Birding Center is hard at work getting ready for the Winter Wonder Wetlands festivities, which will combine learning with fun. There will be hands-on activities for all the guests to enjoy, and while they participate in the various projects, they will be able to make discoveries about birds and other area wildlife.
The staff and volunteers at the center will facilitate a variety of workshops, and the series will kick off with a day that will see kids craft pinecone bird feeders. All ages can build their own gnome or fairy home with a winter flair, and the schedule will wrap up with a session where the participants can make nature-based windchimes. Only a limited number of seats are available in each activity, and they are expected to fill up fast.
By offering members of the public a chance to get involved in some outdoor fun, organizations can create new stakeholders in the local environment. A brochure printing company will be able to prepare items to hand out that offer simple and actionable tips for “going green.”
The Winter Wonder Wetlands series will run from December 21 to December 23. The Center can be found at 714 South Raul Longoria Road.
