Birthing education class scheduled for McAllen parents-to-be

Expectant parents in McAllen and the surrounding communities will have a chance to become well prepared for childbirth by taking part in a class that will be held in McAllen Medical Center.

The class, which is scheduled to run for five hours, will address an assortment of topics that may be of interest to future moms and dads. It also includes an opportunity to tour the facility’s delivery suites so that the attendees can see them in person before the big day arrives.

Those who participate will learn about the stages of labor, as well as breathing and other relaxation techniques. They will also view videos of both caesarian sections and vaginal births, and find out more about nutrition, breastfeeding, and the fundamentals of newborn care. A local printing services provider can supply an event like this with everything from brochures to information sheets and other handouts.

Anyone who is registered at The Birthing Center at McAllen Medical Center or The Women’s Corner at Edinburg Regional is welcome to take part in this educational event free of charge. Non-registered parents will be asked to pay $50 each.

The class has been set to take place on April 14, and it will start at 9:00 am sharp. More information, for anyone who would like further details, can be found on the South Texas Health System’s Facebook page.
