Houston class to cover art of flamb

There is an art to flambé cookery, and a Houston culinary class will teach its epicurious how to work with fire in their own home kitchen.

Central Market Houston will be teaching how to create a variety of dishes, including ones that have to be finished using flambé. It will be for those aged 18 and above, and the students will be engaging in hands-on learning.

Attendees will be walked through sauteing techniques, as well as how to make some simple pan sauces, and after this, it will be time to bring on the flames. Students will be taught how to flambé safely, and the methods taught can be utilized with seafood, cheese, steaks, and also desserts. Everyone will be able to sample what they make, and those aged 21 and up will receive a glass of wine to sip on.

Each registrant is asked to arrive early so they can receive instructions and sign a waiver, and for safety reasons, long hair should be tied back, and flat closed-toed shoes should be worn. Printed Copies of recipes and other handouts for a workshop can be ordered from an area printing services company.

Dubbed “A Night Up in Flames,” this introduction to flambé will begin at 6:30 pm on Saturday, October 26. It will be held at 3815 Westheimer Road.
