Butterflies fascinate many people, and thanks an activity this month, the Houston public is set to develop a greater appreciation for these colorful insects.
A late afternoon session taking place at the Jesse H Jones Park & Nature Center will explore the world of butterflies, offering sneak peek into the lives of these frequent fliers. It will be focused on the species endemic to the Gulf Coast area.
The group will be introduced to the life cycle of butterflies, including how they fit into the overall ecosystem of the areas they inhabit. There will be a discussion about how different species have their own requirements for food, water, shelter, and a place to undergo metamorphosis. Everyone will walk away with knowledge of how they can create a yard that offer butterflies a warm welcome and a perfect habitat.
To help everyone get started at creating pollinator-friendly habitat areas, seed packets will be distributed to the workshop participants. Gardening tip sheets, species identification kits, and other learning material for an activity can be crafted by flyer printing companies in the area.
This introduction to the world of butterflies will begin at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 25. The venue is situated at 20634 Kenswick Drive in Humble. Registration is open now and can be done through AllEvents.
