Houston to host Empty Bowls fundraiser

The “Empty Bowls” movement has been adopted in communities all across the USA and Canada, and Houston will be one of the cities on the list that will be hosting one of these events.

The Houston Center for Contemporary Craft will be helping to make sure everyone has access to healthy food by running an Empty Bowls fundraiser. The containers that will be utilized for the activity will be crafted by local potters and other artisans, giving them an opportunity to showcase their talents while doing a good turn for others.

Members of the public who would like to support the activity can purchase tickets starting at $25. They can choose their bowl from the hundreds that will be on display, and it will then be filled with a nourishing soup lunch prepared by 535 Catering, which is an initiative of the Houston Food Bank. Live music will keep the atmosphere positive and there will be demonstrations of both pottery making and woodturning for the enjoyment of the crowd.

A fundraiser is often only as successful as the materials used to promote it to the community. A poster printing will be happy to help, and can offer a full line of promotional supplies.

This chance for residents to make sure everyone has access to food will be on offer on May 20. The fun will begin at 10:00 am, and continue on through the lunch hour until 3:00 pm at 4848 Main Street.
