Houston gardening workshop to get down and dirty

Healthy soil provides a strong foundation for both ornamental and food plantings, and this will be the focus of a morning workshop planned for Houston at the end of the month.

Savvy gardeners have a variety of tricks up their sleeve for crafting a rich growing medium, and they also know that different plants have their own special requirements. Wabash Feed and Garden will host a session that will explore this in depth, and admission is $10.

During the activity, the attendees will learn how soil health and nutrient levels affect plant growth and also how this affects the nutritional levels of crops. Preparation, tools, organic amendments and choosing the right medium for particular species will all be discussed.

Mark Bowen, who is an expert in the field, will guide the learning. The registration fee will be returned to the participants in the form of a coupon they can use to make a purchase on site.

Gardening is a popular hobby, and those who enjoy the pastime are often eager to learn more. Workshops provide them with an opportunity to do so, and materials for these sessions can be obtained from area Stationery printers.

This opportunity to get down and dirty when it comes to garden soil is scheduled for January 29. It will begin at 10:30 am, and the venue for the activity is at 5437 North Sheppard Drive.
