The registrants in an upcoming class will be transforming scrap silver into wearable works of art, and it is being hosted by the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC).
The Center will be offering the public a chance to sit in on a workshop that will craft cast rings using recycled silver, and it will run for two hours. The students will learn all the steps of the process, and they will also get hands-on experience.
The function will begin with the attendees carving their custom ring shape into a block or charcoal, and after this, they will use a torch to melt their scraps and so that they can be poured and shaped. This process will be completed with a mandrel and hammer, and it will then be time to sand and polish the completed pieces. Both HCCC members and non-members can participate.
The registration fee for this introduction to a simple method for silversmithing starts at $155.00. A poster printing company can help to get the word out to the public about upcoming workshops and other learning activities.
The HCCC has made plans to offer this class on October 29th. It will begin at 11:00 am, and it is open to those who are at least 18 years of age and up, although younger attendees may participate if they are accompanied by an adult.
