For centuries, artisans who work with wood have used lathes to create practical and decorative items, and a Houston class will teach those who are interested how to use them safely.
Rockler Woodworking and Hardware, which is located at 3265 Southwest Freeway, has plans in the works for a class that will introduce members of the public to the lathe and how it is used. It was noted that social distancing measures will be followed, and the function is only open to those who are age 18 and over.
The students in the class will be preparing wooden handles that can, using the kits provided, be used to craft an ice cream scoop. Everyone will be able to take home their completed project, and the fee includes the materials and instruction. The room will be sanitized both before and after the class, and the registration fee for the function is $100 each.
Adults often enjoy learning a new skill, and organized workshops help to make that happen. A brochure printing company can be called on to supply learning materials to distribute to the students so they can keep on making discoveries on their own.
Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has made arrangements to offer this hands-on class on January 15. Anyone who is interested is invited to visit its online listing for more details or to sign up for the session.
