The Japan Festival Houston is taking place for two days next month.
The festival will be celebrating Japanese culture with traditional and contemporary music and dance performances, which will likely include Taiko drummers and kabuki dancers.
Visitors will have to the opportunity to purchase Japanese food from booths or truck. Some of the dishes expected to be served are onigiri (rice balls) and Japanese curry. There will also be martial arts exhibits and games such as goldfish scooping and ring toss, along with fashion shows that will highlight clothing from both classical and contemporary times. In addition, there will be demonstrations of origami, ikebana (flower arranging), bonsai, and etagami (a Japanese style of painting).
There is also set to be an anime/cosplay (costume) contest and a traditional tea ceremony in the tea house. Vendors will also be on hand to sell general Japanese-related merchandise and arts and crafts. This may include clothing, Japanese snacks, paintings, and jewelry.
Printing companies in Houston are often asked to help advertise events such as these, and highlight that sponsorship opportunities are still avialalbe. Methods of doing this might include providing Posters, Flyers, or signage.
The Japan Festival Houston will be held at the Hermann Park Japanese Garden from May 6 to 7, beginning at 10:00 AM each day. Admission is free. To learn more about this event, contact Patsy Brown at 712-963-0121.
