Upcoming exhibition to celebrate fiber arts

"Weave Houston: Celebrating 71 Years of the Contemporary Handweavers of Houston" will be showing at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft beginning early next year.

A celebration of the fiber arts curated by Dr. Mary Ruth Smith, items that will be featured in the exhibition include wall hangings and sculpture.

There are several virtual events that will be taking place during the run of the exhibit; all will air on Facebook Live. These events include Awards of Distinction on January 13 at 6:00 PM, a live tour on January 21 starting at 1:00 PM, and a workshop. The topic of the workshop is Circular Weaving, and it will be taught by Molly Koehn. The public can also pick up kits to make their own woven baskets, which will be available on February 6.

The center is open Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Visitors are asked to wear masks and register for specifically timed visits.
