The exhibit ‘Vincent Van Gogh: His Life in Art’ will be showing in Houston beginning this month and continuing for the next three months.
The Dutchman, who lived from 1853 to 1890, is one of the most popular of the Post-Impressionist artists. This exhibition will feature some of his early sketches as well as a number of his most famous painting from late in his career. This will include portraits, landscapes, and still life paintings. Among the painting that will be on display are ‘Irises’, ‘Portrait of a Peasant Girl in a Straw Hat’, and ‘The Langlois Bridge at Arles’.
The exhibit was created by the Van Gogh Museum and the Kroller-Muller Museum. It is curated by David Bomford.
Several events are being held that relate to the exhibition including members previews, a members-only lecture from the curator and a public lecture entitled ‘Van Gogh's enduring legacy’ presented by Nienke Bakker of the Van Gogh Museum. In addition, there will be a screening of the animated film ‘Loving Vincent’.
