"Hockney - Van Gogh: The Joy of Nature" is opening next month in Houston.
This is the first time these two celebrated artists have been studied together in the US. Originally presented at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the exhibit seeks to show the similarities between the two artists and how David Hockney was influenced by Vincent van Gogh. Both are known for their dramatic use of color.
Hockney is still a working artist and there are 50 of his works in the exhibition. This includes sketch book studies, paintings, videos, and iPad drawings. While there are only 10 Van Gogh works featured, they will show the similarities between the two artists, especially concentrating on landscapes.
Both artists have proven themselves to be legends in their chosen field. No doubt many Houston residents will not want to miss this showing. To advertise, local Stationery printers might provide marketing materials such as Flyers and Brochures.
The exhibition will be held at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in the Audrey Jones Beck Building from February 21 to June 20. A catalog of the exhibition is available in the musuem’s shop.
The museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Admission is $19 for adults, $16 for seniors and $12 for students. To learn more about this exhibition, contact the museum at 713-639-7300.
