Merlot 2 Masterpiece has announced a fundraising event to be held in November, with proceeds going to the Girls & Boys Clubs of Greater Houston.
The event, ‘Me, My Selfie, & I’, will be presented through a partnership with Gifted Custom Art. Participants paint pictures of their selfies at the event.
The owner of Merlot 2 Masterpiece, Jeff Bernal, told the Houston Press that he was excited about the new partnership, and the ability to give back to the community. The Boys & Girls Club’s mission statement is to help youth reach their full potential through educational success, a focus on citizenship and character, and advocacy for healthy lifestyles. The organization also offers parent resources.
Gifted Custom Art was founded by Kevin West in 2014. An Indianapolis company that has locations in 41 states throughout the United States. When patrons attend Me, My Selfie & I events, they are given a customized paint-by-number canvas. For each painter who attends an event at Merlot 2 Masterpiece, a child at the Boys & Girls Club event will also receive the chance to paint. West has found that kids who paint their selfies receive a boost in self-esteem, and also have a personal experience with creating art. Painters could choose to have their paintings turned into a variety of gift items through printing companies.
