The Running for Hearts 5K, a fundraiser for Shield Bearer, is taking place next weekend in Houston.
The event consists of a 5K timed trail run and a one-mile family walk. Fees, which covers both events, are $25 for those aged 14 and over and $10 for children aged 13 and under. It is also possible to raise pledges as an individual or as a team. Participants will receive a T-shirt and a swag bag filled with promotional items from sponsors. Prizes will also be awarded at the end of the run.
After the run and walk, there will be musical entertainment, food and drink for purchase, and vendors. Spaces are available for $150 each for those who want to be vendors, and the fee includes a six-foot table. Vendors can bring their own tents.
Sponsorships are still available from $50 up to $10,000, and organizers are also looking for volunteers. Houston Print shops are often asked to provide bibs and other printed material to local marathons.
Shield Bearer is an organization the provides help and programs for survivors of traumatic events such as domestic abuse, war, and natural disasters.
The Running for Hearts 5K will be held at Windwood Presbyterian Church on March 30 from 7:00 to 11:00 AM. To learn more about this event, or about Shield Bearer, call 281-894-7222.
