Plant propagation may sound complicated, but thanks to an event due to be hosted at the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, it may soon be a lot easier for local green thumbs.
The Texas Master Naturalist initiative offers the public a chance to sit in on a variety of training courses, and its Native Plant Propagation workshop is currently accepting registrations. It will be focused on species and cultivars that do not tend to be available in the trade, and a variety of methods for obtaining new plants will be introduced.
There are many methods for obtaining new plants, ranging from seed starting to tissue culture, and the session will introduce the attendees to the ones that are suited to the home horticulturist. This will make it easier for them to obtain perennials, trees, and other varieties for themselves and to share with their fellow green thumbs. It is set to run for two hours, and tickets start at $40.
Many gardeners are eager to learn new ways of caring for their garden. Materials for workshops and other activities can be obtained by contacting Stationery printers, which will be pleased to offer a range of services and other supports.
This introduction to plant propagation will begin at 10:30 am on April 9. The venue for the function will be 4501 Woodway Drive in Houston, and the organizers may be reached by calling 713-681-8433.
