Houston venue to explore hidden world of bats

While they may not know it, Houston’s nightly clean-up crew helps to keep pesky insects under control, and an upcoming event will introduce these flying mammals to the public.

The Houston Botanic Garden has teamed up with AARP to offer its Summer Saturdays programming, and a session planned for late August will explore the nighttime world of bats. While both members and non-members alike are welcome, only those without a membership will be asked to pay a fee, and a discount is available for children, students, seniors and military members.

The participants will learn about these flying mammals from a subject matter expert, and they will also be invited to make a themed arts and crafts project. Once dusk arrives, the group will head outdoors to hopefully spot some live bats and watch them as they hunt for flying insects in the dark. Everyone is reminded to wear comfortable shoes and clothing as well as to bring a filled water bottle.

Learning about nature can be a fun experience, especially when it is done as a group. A brochure printing company can prepare Copies of informational handouts and other materials for an activity such as this one.

The Houston Botanic Gardens Follow the Cloud: The Secret Life of Bats session of its Summer Saturdays program will be offered on August 23. Tickets may be reserved in advance by visiting the venue’s website.
