Houston class to make the most of fresh summer fruit

Summer often brings with it lots of delights, and one of these will make the most of its fresh, seasonal fruit.

Those who sign up for a Houston-based cookery class will be preparing fruit tarts that may be well suited to serving as a family dessert or even an informal gathering. The instructor will be a trained chef, and they will walk the participants through the steps of preparing the recipe.

The group will learn how to craft a shortcrust and French pastry cream from scratch, and they will mix the dough and prepare the other ingredients themselves. Once the crust is ready, it will be time to add the fruit, and when the final results are there to see, they will be invited to sit down with the other students to enjoy their creations. No experience in the kitchen is needed to take part and everything needed to make the tarts will be provided.

Learning how to prepare a new dish can be rewarding for experienced chefs and newbies alike. Recipe cards and other materials to give to each registrant for a cookery class will be available at a company that offers printing services.

This in-person introduction to the art of making fresh fruit tarts has been scheduled for July 31. The class will start at 4:00 pm at 3003 Seagler Road.
