The Apollo Anniversary Celebration is taking place in Houston this year, spanning nine days next month.
It is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing on the moon that will feature a week of special events at the Space Center.
The first day will feature lunch with flight controllers from that era, beginning at 12:00 noon. Tickets are $69.95 for adults and $35.95 for children; Space Center members pay $40 or $11. There will also be a showing of ‘Chasing the Moon’ at 7:00 PM followed by a panel discussion, which is free with Space Center admission.
Throughout all nine days, there will be plenty of fun activities taking place, including NASA Tram tours, pop-up science labs, and speakers.
On July 20, the actual anniversary of the landing, there will be an outdoor festival with musical entertainment, book signings, speakers, and a live countdown to Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon.
The celebration will finish off on July 24 with a Mission Splash Down Party from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. It will have a 1960s theme.
