Juneteenth Fest is taking place in Houston for six days next month. The festival celebrates the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation 154 years ago.
There will be activities and events taking place that are sure to attract people of all ages.
The festival starts off with the Miss Juneteenth Pageant, which will be held on June 10 at Trinity UMC from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. Tickets are $8. Next will be the Children’s Historical Fun Day on June 15, and a youth talent show the same day.
The parade will take place on June 17 beginning at Acres Homes Multi-Service Center at 10:00 AM. The theme of this year’s parade is ‘Marching up Emancipation Avenue’. Later that same day there will be a scholarship gala at the Shrine Cultural Center. Tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for children aged 12 and under. Guests will enjoy a reception and museum tours will be offered.
Other events include a Gospel Fest, a hip-hop dance festival at Miller Outdoor Theatre, and the Juneteenth Community Festival at Emancipation Park.
Organizers of the festival may invest in poster printing services from a Houston Print company in order to spread the word.
