The 24th Annual Texas Championship Pow Wow will bring a two day event to Houston in November at Traders Village.
Hundreds of Native Americans from various tribes across the county will participate in this cultural celebration. The event displays colorful tribal dance contests, along with arts, crafts, and tipis. Dancers, complete with full costume, will move to the rhythm of the authentic drums. Attendees should look forward to seeing feathers, bells, beadwork, and buckskin as the dancers compete for $15,000 in prize money and awards. There are 18 different dance categories within the competition.
The arts and crafts show presents artisans, craftsmen, and traders from across the nation showcasing their handcrafted items and various talents. The arts and crafts show will take place under the giant Expo beginning at 10:00 am on both days of the event.
Adding to the festivities, authentic Indian food will be served throughout the weekend. Tasty temptations include fry bread and Indian tacos.
The family-friendly event provides the opportunity for visitors of all ages to view a tipi village up close. The portable shelter is a rich part of the heritage in Native American culture.
