Arlington Camera and Competitive Cameras will be presenting its “Beyond the Light- Skills and Strategies for the Working Photographer” Dallas Photography Summit in mid-August.
The two-day event will be an intensive workshop with award-winning photography Joe McNally. It will have live photography sessions and shooting bays on Saturday evening for guests to practice their new skills. McNally will be giving image critiques and demonstrations of his methodologies and lighting practices. Vendors will be on site with cutting-edge products for display and purchase.
Vendors at shows like this often put their Logo Design on merchandise Bags.
The first session – The Journey and the Foundation- will be from 9:00 am to noon on Saturday, August 12. During this morning, McNally will create a portrait and discuss the thought process that helped him get to the final image, show different lighting techniques, and end the session with foundational elements to shooting a corporate headshot.
The afternoon session, titled “Dynamic Sports Portraits,” will involve pre-visualizing storytelling, emoting and posing the models, and mood lighting.
From 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, he will be signing Books and students will get to practice in the shooting bays with live models.
The Sunday morning session will be Editorial Fashion, and the last session will be Character Portraits.
Beyond the Light will take place at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S Main Street on August 12 and 13. Registration will be $299 for Dallas Professional Photographers Association members and $379 for non-members.
