Rhapsody in Wood will be here in Grapevine the first weekend in March.
The two-day event will feature over 50 woodcarving artisans displaying their craft. Many items will be available for purchase. Many exhibitors will also be selling woodcarving products, wood and tools. Guests that attend events such as this often ask for Business Cards from their favorite exhibitors.
The carving competition has over 57 categories. Categories include birds, animals and humans. Tools and techniques such as woodturning and pyrographics will have their own categories as will canes and walking sticks, nature scenes and holidays. Other categories will include beginner, novice, teacher-assisted and youth. Gourds have three categories – carved, pyrography and painted. Abstract and stylized will be in the same division.
Snacks will be available for purchase and lunch will be included in the admission ticket.
Everyone is invited to carve with hand tools during the show. A 1 to 1 ½ hour whittling competition will also take place.
Turners, carvers and burners will be donating items to the silent auction. The auction will begin when the show opens and conclude at 3:00 pm on Sunday. Winners will be announced 145 minutes later.
Adult entry fee will be $5 and kids under 13 will get in free.
Rhapsody in Wood Carving Show will be March 7th and 8th beginning at 10:00 am at Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 South Main Street.
