The 17th Annual Spring into Nash is coming in a couple of weeks. The one-day event will take attendees back to the good old days on the farm.
Dressed in farm garb, staff and volunteers will be giving demonstrations in wood carving, jump rope making, wood-burning cooking and blacksmithing. Discussions will be available on field cultivation, cotton planting, and kitchen gardening.
Along with the farm’s everyday farm life interactive activities and displays, kids can view heritage toys and ride in the tractor-drawn hay wagon. Everyone can tour the barn and cemetery and is encouraged to bring picnics that can be laid out in the Pole Barn Pavilion.
A week later, a special Nash Farm supper will offer farm-fresh cuisine. A reception outside the farmhouse will feature foods from and at the smokehouse, the kitchen garden and the hen house. The meal will be served in the meadow family-style. It will consist of farm-fresh items, and farm historians and the farm chef will give short introductions to the dishes. Proceeds from this event will go to the Nash Farm education programs.
Anyone wanting to take pictures at these events for future poster printing or Letterheads will want to check with the management beforehand.
The Spring into Nash will be 10 am until 2 pm April 21st. The Farm to Fork supper experience is slated for April 27, starting at 6:30 pm. Both events will be at Nash Farms, 626 Ball Street.
