Grapevine readies for solar eclipse

Grapevine is planning many events for the total solar eclipse coming in early April.

Nashville Farms, 626 Ball Street, will hold an Eclipse Party a couple of days before the actual event occurs. Guests will learn about some of the safe ways viewers have watched eclipses in the past and how modern methods have made the viewing safer. Along with eclipse stories and party games, attendees may make pinhole cameras.

Nashville's First Fridays at the Farm - Eclipse Party will take place April 5, 10:00 am to noon, and tickets will cost $5 for anyone over two years old.

On April 8, the day of the eclipse, Grapevine Vintage Railroad will be offering two Solar Eclipse One-Hour Excursions. Tickets will be $25. Boarding will begin at 9:30 am for the first ride and 11:30 am for the second. The rides will depart the station at 9:50 am and 11:50 am.

Peace Plaza will be holding a VIP Solar Eclipse Watch Party from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm on April 8. Live music will be provided by DJ Mike B and the Joshua Ingram Band. Attendees may play vintage arcade games and observe the Total Solar Eclipse from 1:41 pm to 1:43 pm.

Commemorative T-Shirts featuring an eclipse graphic design can be added at registration as part of the $100 or $275 VIP packages.
