Grapevine goes to the movies

Grapevine movie buffs will be turning out for the 1st annual Grapevine Film Festival coming early in October.

The festival will be a series of screenings of narrative feature length films (90 to 120 minutes), narrative short films (12 minutes or shorter) and student films of no more than six minutes. Organizers of events such as this usually capture pictures that they take to local printing services to be included in next year’s brochure printing.

Awards will be given in Best of Show, Best Director, Actor, Actress, Short Film, Sound, Cinematographer, Student Film, Texas Film, and Audience Choice. Finally, there will be the Grapevine Film Festival Honorary Award. Films have been submitted and the winners have been selected.

The first day will have Student Short Films and Local Short Films. An opening night reception will be held at the Umbra Winery.

The second day will have the Block 3-Short Films, the feature film ‘The Five Year’, then Block 4 and 5 Short Films followed by the award ceremony.

The Outlaw Cider Company will be hosting the closing night party, during which guests will receive free cider and snacks.

The Grapevine Film Festival will be October 5 from 3:00 pm until 7:30 pm at the Grapevine Convention Center, 1209 S. Main and October 6 from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm at the Palace Arts Center, 300 South Main. Umbra Winery is at 415 South Main Street, while the Outlaw Cider Company is located at 112 East Texas Street.
