Grapevine continues holiday traditions

Grapevine, the Christmas Capital of Texas, is gearing up to present over 1,400 events from now until Christmas Day.

The Gaylord Texan Resort is amassing about two million pounds of ice for its live-sized sculptures, ice monuments, and slides all lit in dramatic fashion for its annual ICE! event.

Great Wolf Lodge will again have its Snowland. Here, guests can dine in a life-size gingerbread house, enjoy bright holiday lights, decorate cookies with Mrs. Claus, and visit Santa. Kids and parents alike will enjoy the indoor snow showers, and the hands-on activities at North Pole University.

Starting on December 1, the annual North Pole Express will be taking “pajama-ed” riders up to see Santa and his friends thanks to the Grapevine Vintage Railroad and Great Wolf Lodge. The little riders will receive “We Believe” silver bells, Christmas cookies, and the event’s graphic design commemorative Mugs of Frosty Chocolate Snow Milk on their trip. Santa, his elves, and Mrs. Claus will give a performance in Santa’s workshop.

No fewer than 16 classic Christmas movies and five Christmas Concerts will be playing at the Palace Theater. Holiday performances will include The Texas Tenors in their Deep in the Heart of Christmas concert, A Rockin’ Elvis Christmas, The Nutcracker according to comedian William Lee Martin, Ricki Derrek’s A Merry Little Christmas Show, and Rocky Gribble’s A Grapevine Opry Christmas.
