Celtic heritage celebrated with festival and games
Grapevine Lake Celtic Heritage Festival and Highland Games has been scheduled for early April.
The Calling of the Clans Ceremonial Fire will kick off the night before the festival from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Those clan members participating the next day will be introduced and honored.
The next day, from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm the Grapevine Lake Celtic Festival will be in full swing. Entertainment will be River Driver (a Celtic acoustic rock), Silver Thistle (bagpipe band), Cleghorn (Celtic rock), Blaggards (Irish rock), and Celtic dancers.
From 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, the International Highland Games Federation (IHGF) Texas Open Championships will take place. This will be one of 10 competitions held throughout the U.S. in nine traditional highland game events - open stone, sheaf toss, weight over bar, caber toss, light hammer heavy hammer, light weight for distance, heavy weight for distance, and Braemar stone. From 80 to 100 athletes are expected to participate.

The 2022 Grapevine Lake Celtic Festival and Highland Games will be April 9 at Meadowmere Park and Campground 3000 Meadowmere Lane, with the Calling of the Clans event the night before. Admission will be $25 per car.
