A Frisco area workshop will introduce the practice of saving seeds to local home horticulturalists, highlighting the benefits of doing so.
Cheryl Huckabee, who will represent the Denton Master Gardener Association, will be the guest speaker for a session planned for Lewisville Public Library this fall. It will run for one hour, and it will be on offer at no charge.
During the activity, Huckabee will discuss various ways to preserve seeds and why it can be important to do so. It preserves both biodiversity and heritage varieties, and can also be helpful to those who breed plants to produce new varieties and cultivars. Seed starting will also be discussed, and there will be time for questions from the crowd, and anyone who feels it could be useful to them is encouraged to take part. Advance registration is not required, and the venue is located at 1197 West Main Street in Lewisville.
Taking part in a workshop may whet the appetite of the attendees to learn even more. A brochure printing company will be able to help by supplying materials that combine both text and full color graphics.
This introduction to the benefits of seed saving will be presented to the local community on Friday, October 14. It will begin at 3:00 pm and continue on until 4:00 pm.
