An event taking place in just over a month is bringing an international culture’s festivities for a special occasion to the local community.
The Frisco Festival of Colors is an event based on Holi, which originates in the Hindu culture, based in the country of India. The exact meanings behind the festival vary across the different parts of India. The Frisco edition is being held as a celebration of the transition between winter and spring.
In a Holi festival, participants throw Bags of powdered dyes in an array of colors at each other while others spray water throughout the crowd. The experience is also full of dancing and music, adding to the joyful atmosphere. The local event will be selling the water sprayers and individual color Bags for $5 each. For a set of three dye Bags the cost will be $10.
The venue is Independence Parkway Practice Field. A map of available parking areas is available on the website for Frisco. There is no entrance fee for the festival. Guests are encouraged to dress in older clothes, wear eye protection, avoid wearing valuables, and to put some sort of covering on their car seats for the drive back home. Many festivals will use a promotion technique such as flyer printing in the lead up to the event. The activities will be running between 2:00pm and 5:00pm on March 14th.
