The life cycle and migration of the monarch butterfly fascinates many people, and a Frisco workshop will teach the public how they can be a good friend to these long-distance Flyers.
The class will teach some of the basics of providing an oasis to monarchs, which may also attract other migrating butterfly species such as mourning cloaks and painted ladies. They will be able to see one of these sites in action, and Monarch Watch Conservation Specialist Carol Clark will be the presenter for the activity.
During the session, the attendees will visit a Monarch Waystation, learning which plants to incorporate in one on their own property. They will learn about the life cycle of these butterflies, including how and why they make their annual migration from Canada and the northern USA to wintering grounds in Texas, California, and Mexico. Everyone can ask questions, and the function will be held at 7401 Coit Rd.
Horticulture workshops offer the public an opportunity to learn and meet others who share their interest. A flyer printing company will be able to offer marketing options for an event.
