After they have taken off their combat boots for the last time, veterans face the challenge of transitioning to civilian life, and a local fundraiser can help them find their way.
The McKinney Monster Dash, just a few miles from Frisco, will be raising money for The Warriors Keep, and several local companies have stepped up to sponsor the celebration. The course for the run starts and ends at TUPPS Brewery, and the runners in the 5K will be chip timed.
Each runner who Signs up for the day will receive a T-shirt printed with a fun Monster Dash graphic design, as well as a race bib and finisher's medal. These will be presented courtesy of Trinity Falls. The top finishers will also receive a cash prize. Age groupings start at age 14 and under, going up to age 60 and over.
Once the runners have reached the finish line, they will be invited to linger and enjoy the post-race fun. A photo booth, music, food, and cold TUPPS beer will be on offer, and there will be vendor tables set up onsite as well. Everyone who comes out is encouraged to wear a costume, and prizes will be awarded.
This morning of fun that will show veterans they have the full support of their community will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, October 28. Registrants can arrive starting at 7:45 am.
