The first-ever Frisco Oktoberfest is taking place next month. It is a fundraiser for Frisco Fastpacs.
Organizers are hoping that this festival will continue annually. It is a celebration of German heritage; Oktoberfest celebrations are held around the world in September and October.
The festival will start with a traditional keg tapping; this is where a dignitary breaks off the plug of a barrel to let the beer flow. It will be followed by lots of German and local foods, German and domestic beer and musical entertainment. Among the musical guests that will be performing this year are the Polka Meisters and the High Definition Band; Texanisher Schuhplattler Verein d'Holzar will also be performing traditional dances.
There will also be contests for prizes. These contests include a beer stein hoisting competition, keg rolling and brat eating. In addition, approximately 100 vendors will be participating in the marketplatz; they will likely be selling many German-related items.

Oktoberfest will take place at Frisco Square on September 28 from 5:00 to 10:00 PM. General admission is free; VIP tickets are $80 and include three beer tickets, a beer stein and access to the VIP tent.
