Independence Day celebrations are not that far away and the city of Frisco will be holding two special runs to help people get in the spirit.
The first run will be the Dachshund Dash which raises funds for the Colling County Animal Shelter. Dachshunds and their owners will race 10 to 15 feet. Prizes of gift baskets will be awarded to the first, second and third-place finishers. All racers will receive a goody bag. The fee to participate is $10 per dog.
Later that evening, the Hotter 'n Firecrackers Glow Run will take place. The theme is "Race to Independence." This is a 5K run and participants will be dressed in LED and fluorescent clothing. All participants will get a LED headband, a finisher medal, a t-shirt and glow products. Teams of at least four are acceptable. Fees are $30 for each person.
Food trucks will be on hand at the end of the race.
These runs are all leading up to the Frisco Freedom Fest on July 4.
