Fort Worth ISD given grant for entrepreneur program

The Texas Trust Gives Foundation has awarded Fort Worth ISD a grant for the purpose of creating business and entrepreneurial incubator classrooms that will provide students with the ability to successfully build their own professional business ventures.

Entrepreneurs usually depend heavily on the services of banner and brochure printers, and have Business Cards to hand.

Texas Trust determines to whom it will give its grants, and the amount each recipient will receive, via a series of meeting held by its board of directors. Dozens of school districts throughout the state apply each year for the grant and the large number of students served by Fort Worth worked in its favor.

Texas Trust’s executive director Washima Huq explained that applicants can receive either none, partial, or full funding, saying:

“Luckily for Fort Worth, they got the full funding. Fort Worth ISD has the most students among school districts that we partner with. And also the most that are underserved. They have a lot of diversity when it comes to students who are bilingual or first-generation college students, and so we took all of that into consideration.”

Administrators and leaders at Fort Worth ISD hope to expand their entrepreneurial program with the purchase of printers, cutting tools, presses, power tools, and other supplies that promote entrepreneurship in students.

The entrepreneurship and business classrooms at Fort Worth ISD to be funded by the grant will have about 80 students its first year, with funds to continue the program for four additional years.
