WalletHub, a personal finance website, has ranked all the states and placed Texas at No. 2, right behind New York, for the best summer road trips.
That Texas performed so well is not too surprising, considering it has almost 680,000 miles of roads available for travel, considerably more than any other U.S. state. Regarding per capita vehicle miles travelled, Texas came in 19 out of 50.
The results of studies such as this one are used by Chambers of Commerce across the country, often in partnership with Print shops, to promote cities and encourage tourism. According to AAA, the Lone Star State expects to experience a swift increase this summer in overnight road trips compared to the last two years.
A total of 33 different factors were taken into consideration when formulating the list to “find the most fun, scenic and wallet-friendly road-trip destinations.” Among the criteria looked at were road conditions, attractions, and travel costs.
Texas ranked well in a number of areas, such as 12th for scenic byways, 9th when it comes to driving laws, and 7th in nightlife options per capita.
