Texas million-dollar home sales highest in Dallas-Fort Worth

Texas Realtors have recently issued a report that Dallas-Fort Worth leads Texas in the sale of million-dollar home sales.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area has experienced a 0.8% increase in the sale of homes priced at $1m or “luxury homes”. Among the metro areas in Texas examined from November 2018 – October 2019 Dallas-Fort Worth had the highest number of sales, with the luxury home sales accounting for $2.9bn and 8.8% of the area’s total home sales.

By comparison, Austin’s luxury home sales grew by 14% year-over-year. This is the greatest increase among Texas’ metropolitan areas, and resulted in $1.7bn in sales. The luxury market in San Antonio realized a healthy 10.8% increase in sales, although that came from the sale of only 211 home sales totaling $319m.

Overall, the Lone Star State enjoyed a luxury home sales increase of 4.4% during the aforementioned timeframe. This reflected the 5,149 homes sold in the state at $1m or over. The sales total is up 5.1%, resulting in $8.3 billion in sales.

In Texas, according to the report, the median price for a luxury home is $1,375,000, and the average square foot price is $38 – more than three times the average for all Texas homes.
